End of January

Hello everyone,

I hope you are having a good week. If you would like more practice using maps, please go to http://www.quia.com/cz/66581.html  or http://www.mcedservices.com/litex/maps.html.  A good website to practice map reading and listening is http://www.elllo.org/PagesGames/012-Directions.htm .

I have received several excellent writings for our newsletter, so thank you.

On Monday,  I was invited over to a learner’s house for an excellent Mexican meal.  It was excellent.  Do any of you have a favorite recipe from your home country that you would like to share?  If so, please post it to this blog.  I would like to try them.

I will be posting the class schedule for February this weekend.

Have a good week.

An Event Filled Week

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone survived the record setting bitter cold we had last week. Here in Kensington we had -34 F.

We have several important events coming up this week.  On Monday the 19th is Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  This is a day that we celebrate the great things that this Civil Rights Leader did in the 1950’s and 1960’s.  You can find out more about this inspirational man at http://www.mlkonline.net/

You can also watch his most famous speech, ‘Ihave a Dream’, at http://www.mlkonline.net/video-i-have-a-dream-speech.html  .

On Tuesday the 20th, the US will inaugurate it’s first African American president, Barack Obama.  He is giving everyone the opportunity to speak up on what they think are the important issues at http://www.change.gov .  You can check out his first weeks in office at http://www.whitehouse.gov/  .  You can watch the inauguration live at http://www.c-span.org/Watch/C-SPAN_wm.aspx  .

Do you think Barak Obama will be a good President?  Why or Why Not?
