North America wins Continental Cup

Posted in Uncategorized on January 13th, 2008

For Curling, the most strongest nations and regions are among North Europe and North America, as I concerned, they have the right climate and this sport was originated from there. And this time, Europe is competing with North America, and North America wins the champion, which was held in a small town in Canada.

“The  tired and outplayed European contingent fell in final Skins curling action to their Canadian and U.S. opponents to lose 290-110 over the four-day “Ryder Cup-style” competition.”

As I konw, now Canada takes the first place of curling, in borh men and women. the next continental championship will be held in Germany, and as the hosts, I hope Europe could perform better, then the competition will be more harsh, then all the curling teams could make progress.

China’s curling team is on the rise

Posted in Uncategorized on January 2nd, 2008

Before I went to the winter sport center, I nearly knew nothing about curling. Nor did I knew how it developed in China. For me, winter sport besides curling is totally a new world for me.

I am happy to learn that both the women’s and men’s team have qualified the 2008 world curling champinship, which will be held in America in April, 2008. During the qualifiction, we could see the steady improvement of skills and strategies. And the author did say that China will soon be a force to conted with at the international level. Maybe one day, we could catach up the world upper teams like Canada and USA, as curling has been played in China for just several years. And now as I know, our national teams are training hard at HuaiRou in Beijing.

I worked as a part-time asistant in winter sport center dealing with the foreign affairs towards curling. So the names of the players are quite familar to me, as I type them into varies kind of forms everyday. I really hope they could work hard and do a good job!
