What is wrong with the French?
Recent day the Beijing Olympic torch relay was unsuccessful done because of some people who are against China prevent the torch relay.
What makes me surprise is that this event happened both in France and England!
Baron de Coubertin, the father of modern Olympic Games, is the French. I think the French will know more Olympic spirit than Chinese! What is the spirit of Olympics?
That is to unit the world to make the whole world a family by encouraging people all over the world to join in the Olympic big family! No matter what race, nation and religion belief people are!
So how can the French do this stupid thing to destroy the Olympic spirit and humiliate the father of Modern Olympic Games!
So I wonder what is wrong with the French.

You are right Angus, there is some irony inthe fact that a French man bagan the new Olympic movement and some French were protesting at the torch relay. However, you must have noticed it wasn’t very many French who were protesting but only a few, just like in Tibet, there weren’t alot of people protesting only some, so you can’t judge all the French by a handful. Although, you might argue that the president himself said he might boycott the games. Although I am all for free speech and believe they have a right to speak out about anything they disagree with, they have no right to be violent or to threaten other people so carrying signs is one thing while attacking people is another. I also think it was quite unfair of the press to blame China for cracking down on the protesters. Any country would do the same. We had tanks in the city of Detroit during the race riots there in the 60’s. We were all horrified but it was necessary to stop the destruction. On the other hand, I think there is something that is making some Tibetan monks unhappy and the government should try to find out what that is and see if they can’t make it better. Perhaps they could give them more freedom to worship the way they see fit. Anyway, it sure points out the big difference in the way the West sees China and the way China sees herself. I think the press did a disservice to the issue and I am glad the Chinese pointed that out however you must admit, China only tells there side of the story too, but it doesn’t brag about unbiased reporting like the western press does.

By the way, I still don’t see your blogroll where I can find the articles that you read. I see your archives and all that you wrote but not which articles you read.

Sorry if I am just not seeing something that’s before my eyes, but…
