Review of Annika Sorenstam wins 70th LPGA Tour title, ends long winless streak

Annika Sorenstam won the season-opening SBS Open for her 70th LPGA Tour title and it had been a long time that she was not the winner since September 2006. The 37-year-old Swedish star, has finished with a 10-under 206 total since her rookie season in 1994.It was her second straight win in Hawaii. Rookie Russy Gulyanamitta (68), Laura Diaz (70) and Jane Park (70) tied for second. Sorenstam was limited to 13 events last year because of neck and back injuries and had six top-10s finishes, but couldn’t add to her trophy collection. Ueda and Jane Park each birdied to tie Sorenstam for the lead at 8 under. However, no one could keep pace with Sorenstam. This time was also the best finish in Jane Park’s young career. The 21-year-old Park was the low amateur at the 2006 U.S.
Like Sorenstam, Diaz also was hungry for a win. Diaz shared the lead with Sorenstam until she also double-bogeyed No. 7. Diaz made a 20-foot birdie putt on 18. Defending champion Paula Creamer closed with a 69 to finish at 4 under. She hit 18 greens in regulation but putted 34 times.

review:Winter Triathlon World Cup opener

Winter triathlon is not triathlon occurring between November and March It involves running, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing - all performed on snow. It can improve your base fitness, and expand your skills as a multi-sport athlete. The International Triathlon Union has been holding winter triathlon world championship races for 11 years. In winter triathlon, the running is contested on hard-packed snow courses about 5—9 km. The mountain bike leg is held on packed ski trails for a distance of 10-15 km, cross-country skiing is usually 8-12 km long. There are also relay race teams in the championship.
This year’s winter triathlon world cup was held on Jan 14th, 2008 in Valberg, France. Sigi Bauer of Austria and Sigrid Mutscheller of Germany took the gold medals in the men’s and women’s races, respectively.

Triathlon—2007 Review: Hamburg World Champs

Since I had been doing the volunteer job of the triathlon event in Good Luck Beijing in the late September, 2007. From then on, I have been very interested in triathlon and until now I am very proud of being a volunteer for triathlon event.
Now, let us have a good review of the Hamburg BG Triathlon World Championships which were held from August 30th to September 2nd.
The whole events were divided into three parts according to the age group— junior men and women, under 23 year-old group and elite men and women.
The elite men and elite women competition were the highlights. There was a fierce contention between world No. one Vanessa Fernandes and her big rival— three-time world champion Emma Snowsill. Finally, Fernandes got on the first place by her strong swim and also her rival Snowsill’s tiny misplay in the transition part. The result was as follows:
Elite Women
1 Fernandes, Vanessa (POR) 01:53:27
2 Snowsill, Emma (AUS) 01:54:31
3 Bennett, Laura (USA) 01:54:37

For the elite men’s event, unfortunately, my favorite athlete Javier Gomez did not win the championship. However, in my opinion, his performance was excellent. The result was as follows:
Elite Men
1 Unger, Daniel (GER) 01:43:18
2 Gomez, Javier (ESP) 01:43:22
3 Kahlefeldt, Brad (AUS) 01:43:35

That is all about the review of 2007 Hamburg World Champs.
I hope the elite men and women of triathlon will get good results in the 2008 Olympics. I am looking forward to meeting them again.
