As Rogge began the first of five days of meetings Monday, the last run of the Paris torch relay was canceled following protests. Under pressure to speak out on human rights and concerned about a threatened Olympic boycott, athletes want IOC president Jacques Rogge to provide stronger guidelines on how they should conduct themselves. Rogge was asked by the president of the European Olympic Committees to spell out “what athletes can and cannot do” to express political views during the Beijing Olympics.

Rogge said. “The torch relay has been targeted. The International Olympic Committee has expressed its serious concerns and calls for a rapid, peaceful resolution in Tibet.” Rogge also tried to quell talk of any kind of boycott.

That is terrible if any country or athlete would boycott the Beijing Olympics. I think Chinese government can not handle it, and it will certainly cause great bad impact to Chinese political and economical position in the world. China is a big and responsible country, we prepared a lot for this, and devoted a lot, no matter in money or label force. We sincerely expect and wish these Olympics would be a splendid ceremony. Although there was some unrest factors that tried to disturb and demolish it, a great majority of us are loyal and honesty to the great sporting event. I also saw some Chinese websites talked about this, but mostly they just prohibited reporting the side effect of the torch relay. Sometimes I do believe Chinese government should face its serious problem. More hide, more cover up won’t do anything to help solving this problem, instead, more Chinese people will concern about and even doubt about the ability of the government. I think to some extent, Chinese government should learn from the US, it never prohibited the complain from the public. So I feel a little disappointment to the government and I do hope it can come out a batter and quicker solution to this.

Greek officials kept details of the route’s Athens leg under tight wraps Friday, fearing a repeat of protests by human rights campaigners and opponents of China’s violent crackdown in Tibet that marred Monday’s flame-lighting ceremony in Ancient Olympia. Officials said about 2,000 police would provide security.

On Saturday, runners will carry the torch to the village of Marathon, the starting point of the 26-mile race inspired by an ancient soldier’s semi-legendary run to Athens to announce the Athenian victory over an invading Persian army in 490 B.C

.

The Beijing flame will enter Athens in the afternoon. It will be handed over to Beijing 2008 officials on Sunday at the restored ancient stadium where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896.

In my opinion, Greek does not have to put so much police to protect this event, because on one hand, torch relay is a pubic event, it surely will attract many attention from the media, ordinary people. If we use too many police, it may scare the audience and as a result, they may afraid to watch and participate in it. So it is not necessary. On the other hand, the crackdown of Tibet is happened in china, Chinese government will deal with it and it already reached an agreement. The way the Greek did seem not believes Chinese government and our ability. I think any Chinese who heard it will not feel comfortable. However, I do think some action is needed to make sure the security of torch relay. Which I worry most is not the Tibet, but the terrorism. I hope the Greek government also realized it.

Anyway, about the torch relay, I just want to tell people don’t worry too much, there is always more peace than unrest in this world, and most people are kind and righteous. Enjoy it and send your good wishes to 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Apparently unnerved by recent unrest among Tibetans and fearful of protests in the heart of the capital, China has told broadcast officials it will bar live television shots from the vast square during the Olympic games. A ban on live broadcasts would disrupt the plans of NBC and other major international networks, which have paid hundreds of millions of dollars to broadcast the Aug. 8-24 games and are counting on eye-pleasing live shots from the iconic square. These international networks facing the danger of losing profit, So they appeal Beijing government to rethink about its decision. But the answer is still negative.

Many people can not understand the behavior of Chinese government, but I think this is a right choice according to present situation. because of Beijing Olympic, many unrest factors are ready to start, and Chinese government deeply concerned the security of its citizen and foreign friends, it has the responsibility to protect them, to ensure that Beijing Olympic will be a successful and splendid event. While still many people especially do not agree with it, they think like the Olympics, live broadcasts from Tiananmen Square were meant to showcase a friendly, confident China, if china even have no such confidence, how can it hold such a world renowned event. Whether these broadcasts want to make money or just want to watch china facing danger, no matter what they think or want, china is a big and powerful country, we will against the unrest element together and I believe Beijing government will solve it.Beijing Olympic is on the corner, I think, everyone in the whole world is looking forward to it, and will give their good wishes to it. Because this is not belongs to china, it belongs to the whole world.

Today I saw this news, he was the marathon record holder, and he got asthma. He told the reporter he would still compete in Beijing Olympics but not in marathon, because he thought Beijing’s air pollution may harmful to his health.

Actually, many other athletes and spectators are worrying about this; I don’t know how the government solves this problem, whether it can reach the IOC’s standard within next few months. But the truth is the pollution still increasing and growing. The interesting thing is, many Chinese think those foreigners are too serious, they seem a little funny, because for Chinese who lives here for half of their life, almost ignore this problem, they don’t consider it as a problem. I once saw a picture in The Economist, on which many Chinese are flying their kites happily, but that is a cloudy day, the sky was full of feculent smog. Terrible thing is people are already get used to it, they are not aware that Beijing‘s air pollution is so bad. How to they make a change if normal people do not take it seriously?

With the Olympics are near its corner, all quick solution seems vein, and that is why foreigners scare about it. This brought me the memory of my hometown. I was born in Shanxi Province, in the north part of China, which is the home of coal. The whether in my hometown is even worse than in Beijing, so one of the Japanese company’s manager said that he could not find my hometown in the satellite, because of our severe pollution.

I hope there will be more people aware of this problem, and try every meant to eliminate it.

I was very sad when I saw this news today. Because I am Bode Miller’s faithful fan. While he was not as disappointed as me. In the latter interview, he told the journalist that he made mistakes and he was also good to be second. He will make effort to get back the champion.

That is real Bode Miller, never lose confidence and faith to himself, and always ready to go. He is such a energetic and enthusiastic guy that I can not help liking him. I known him from my listening class, at first, I just thought “oh, this guy is cute! He is a good-looking man and has charming smile!” that is my first impression about him. Later I found myself like him more when I learned him life experience. His parents were hippies and they created a different world for little Bode Miller, he lived in a frame house that his parents built it themselves, and he was home schooling until grade three ,thus, he had more time to ski outside and the beautiful nature also helpful to his character’s building. Since his parents were both hippies, they never push him a lot on ski, so he does not have pressure, i think no pressure from family would be a good condition for his success. Later he became the world-renowned skier, he told people to win is not him only goal to ski, he want to people love this sport and benefit form it. No pains, no gains. I think from this competition, he will learn more I am confident about him. I will support him for ever.

As we all known, Yao is the hardcore of Chinese basketball team, he is the most valuable player in china’s basketball history. While doctors say he should still make the Game, healing is expected to take until around June. Manager of Chinese men’s national team said he understand how yao feels, and concerned about his condition like all his fans.

Now people are discussing about the reason for yao’s injury. Some said that is because he got too much game time this season, while others think injury is unavoidable in this competitive sport. I think the reason is not as important as compare to his possible loss. He said it will be his biggest loss in his career to right now.

China’s Olympic Committee has no immediate comment, and thousands of Yao’s fans are expressing their concern and their opinion about his injury. More people hoping he could return to Beijing Games.

Yao Ming was the most famous Chinese athlete in NBA, and he is expected by millions of people in Beijing’s Olympics. Many people buy the tickets mostly because he participates in the game. Since he was badly injured recently and no exact days to come back, I think the tickets may face decline. as a volunteer of basketball and fans if Yao Ming, I feel very disappointed and shocked when I heard this news especially he may miss the Beijing’s Olympics . i am expecting to see him on the court again, because that is the place he should live in , and that is his ways to show him to show china. Wish him better soon .Fighting, Yao Ming! You are the best! I support you foe ever!

This was a very sad thing for Croatia, for people who support for Croatia. However, Eduardo, as the biggest victim, had to spend his birthday in the hospital today. What is worse, the injury is so severe that may influent his career as a professional soccer player. I think it can not be worse to destroy one’s dream, while sometimes we must accept. I looked through the BBS of this accident, many Eduardo’s fans are praying for their hero, many worrying his career life.

Stand from where you fell. This is a typical Chinese proverb which has profound meaning in our daily life. Everyone suffers in this world, every moment there is people who are suffering, what will they do after their catastrophe? Many people choose to continue their life by living in a different way. Show their importance and use in another way. Like Chinese gymnastics Sanglan, after paralysis, she changed her career as a broadcaster for Beijing Olympics. Now she is on her first year in Beijing university. Just like people often say .: God closed one door for you, he will open another for you. Whenever, what we should do is believe ourselves.See the suffers as gift from God, because he thinks you can do better in another way, in another position.

While out of play, she is a rather warm and honest girl. She admits that she likes tasting food, and making food. But her skills are not that good. she also could not keep herself in the bookstore and reading books for hours.with the help of the advertisement, her name become a household name. Maria Sharapova is trying to be more than “that tennis player”.

From the descriptive story of her life out of play. What impressed me most is her sincerity towards life and her career. She is self-deprecating about her achievement and has a positive attitude towards the failure.compare with other household famous star, her personality is quite precious and valuable. As we all know, people usually will enlarge something when they talk about it before the camera, while Sharapova still keep her honesty , she talks freely , laughing easily. As one of her fans, I admire her beautiful appearance ,and respect her personality as well. In her later life, I hope she could perform better, and remain pure in the mixing society.

In this article, the author talk about a popular phenomenon in sports field, the “noise” outside the game while a game is still going on. like the irrelevant explanation of the drug use of the athletes, all the dancing girls and the acrobats at the field, people discussing about the private life of the coach, the bad reputation of a particular athlete or referee. Such noise is making the pure game-watching spectators confused and sad. In author’s opinion, a game is a game, while a commentary is a commentary, they can not be combined or mixed in to a mass, or it will make the pure game impure, make the audience judge the game with colorful eyes. He was fad up with such noisy situation happens on a match. In his summary part, he said substituting something that’s trivial-but-noisily-immediate for something that’s virtuous — even smally virtuous, like a game we play or ponder — breeds an ugly cynicism about virtue itself.
While as far as I am concerned, I understand the author’s feeling, and sometimes I do have such feeling, but on a large scale, I think this can not be banned, people are interested not only the game itself, but also the real life ,the character and the quality of their beloved athletes , coaches and referee, such “irrelevant” commentary do have the effect to satisfy the spectators, besides people have the right of free-talking. So I think if people who don’t like this can watch the game on TV or find some online news, because this phenomenon can not avoided and on the contrary, will exist in the sporting field for a long term, as long as people still love sports, people still interested in it.

So did this year, yet, it has its specialty.
Back in 2007 of china, this is a year of high-inflation, high-food price, and high-house price. Then what is following is that people’s actual salary is decreasing, Even their deposit is depreciating, and people’s real life quality is declining too. How to keep everyday living becomes a question back on table. So when you enjoy your New Year Eve’s yummy food, think about that it may equal your whole family’s Wally last year. That is just most people’s Spring Festival. Anyways, we still have it though may not expected as before.

Beginning of 2008 is period of natural disaster, may be god is angry of china refusing sign the “bali roadmap.” Because I was on my volunteer work this semester, so I witnessed the terrible weather in some parts of china especially on freeway. That was during the climax of transportation during Spring Festival, train tickets were so hard to get in Beijing, air force in many area of china were interrupted. I was lucky to get a pick-up back to home. Although the freeway protectors were cleaning the snow, there were some not yet to clean, and some places were snowing all the time. I was fortunate to back home by car, what about the farmer workers who left hometown for the whole year? How do they get home? Some may first have to worry about their long unpaid salary. Then after I went home, I heard the news that the electric workers in Hunan province in central china were died of knocking off the ice of the electric cable. that was a heart-broken news for their family, for Hunan province, for the whole country. Premier Wen Jiabao paid a visit to Hunan, and consoled the heartrending family. What about their Spring Festival? Some one leave, some one hurt, what feeling should the rest have?
However, the celebration still goes on, children still mirth. This is the Olympic year, this is the harvest year. Look at the New Year Eve’s anniversary party hold by CCTV, you can find more vapidity, more sumptuous decorations. That is just a routine happens every year.
Turn our eye on the wonderful performance during Spring Festival. When you consent your eyes, do you notice those street performer may have not had their lunch yet, they may have to prepare it for the whole cold winter without pay. They may have no money to buy new clothes and food because of the inflation happened last year. That is the difference between you and them. That is their Spring Festival.
Whatever, every one has his or her Spring Festival. May happy, may sad, may numbness because already get used to. We celebrate it each year, year by year. It is the most beautiful clothes we ever wear, ever.
