Jackfruit

Do you know what ’s this? “I’m Jackfruit!” In Chinese we call it “Bo Luo Mi”(pineapple honey)
Yesterday Winnie’s classmate asked her to arrange a place to sleep for his mother, when his mother came, she gave us a bag of Fresh Jackfruit!! They live in GuangDong province so this fruit is very common for them. But in Beijing we seldom see them. Even though there are some of them in the supermarkets, they are usually not fresh and extremely expensive. I sometimes buy a bag of “jackfruit chips” which are dried jackfruits produced in Vietnam.
I searched Wikipedia, it says:
“The jackfruit is something of an acquired taste, but it is very popular in many parts of the world. An unopened ripe fruit can have an unpleasant smell, like rotting onions. The light brown to black seeds with white innards are about the 2-3 inches long. People often oil their hands with coconut oil, or paraffin before preparing jackfruit, as the rest of the fruit is a loose white mass that bleeds a milky, sticky sap often used as glue.”
Right, the fruit really has a special smell, girls in our dorm don’t like it though 3 of them come from places where jackfruit is grown. But I think its smell is much better than durian. For me jackfruit it is soooooooooo sweet! So can you guess what’s hapening? The whole bag of fruits belongs to me~~~~
Now I must controll myself, for the fruit contains very high calories!!

Jack fruits grow a lot in my country too, make sure that you don’t have stomach ulcer when you consume it, since this fruit produces much gass in digestion.

I had never come across jack fruit before coming to China. An interesting fruit with a peculiar smell. I also had never eaten Durian. Now there is a strange creation!
Good job on your blog.

you should try these fruits, sometimes when you want to spend holiday in tropical areas but couldn’t realize it, you can eat them and imagine that you are in Thailand or other beautiful countries!
