Video Diary
The following films were recorded and edited (very quickly) as the project progressed. They do not represent the content of the series but were used as ‘update features’ for each location.
The first blog was shot in Cambridge and features Daniel Emmerson, Joel Carr and Marcus Essberger. The central clips used in the film were shot at an outdoor café in the rain and depict the film crew looking rather chilly:
The New York blog features both an introduction sequence and music. The blog generated a lot of interest due to its fast pace and intriguing location footage from the Big Apple.
While in Granada, Daniel and Joel were invited to a cave near the town centre. The cave had recently been purchased by a teacher at IML Granada and made for an interesting location to shoot the blog.
The Casablanca video blog was daringly shot on a rooftop overlooking a residential area of the city. It features shots from the Hassan II mosque and several scenes shot in Morocco’s capital, Rabat. Emmerson mentions that the film crew plan to go to Fez, a trip that was never actually came about.
Bucharest is the only video blog to feature the crew arriving at the destination. It is also the only blog to feature footage at night, an element that perhaps compliments the Romanian black metal soundtrack.
