From April to May

April 30th, 2008 by gerry

April is coming to an end, and I really enjoy the past days. I leant what is friendship, what is persistence, what is patriotism and what is TEM-4. So many things have happened in April that I would miss it very much. In spring, I’m living healthily and happily.

May is another beautiful month with lots of mysteries, I’m confident that I’ll enjoy life more.

To Make Love Grow

April 30th, 2008 by gerry

It took me years, though, to learn that the love surrounding our family didn’t just happen. We had to learn about love from one another. In fact, love never just happen——not even to people who seem as naturally loving as my mother and father. But there is , I think, a climate that is best for love——a way of living that hastens the maturity of this matchless gift.  First, love needs time. Perhaps people can fall in love in a moment, but mature love is like a tree , moving slowly from the seed in the ground to the sheltering splendor of its prime. People need time to deepen their affection, to appreciate one another’s differences, to share one another’s joy and grief…  When we accept the differences of loved ones, we find that those very differences provide the mystery and wonder of human relationships. It’s foolish to expect perfection, it doesn’t exist, the key is to recognize and enjoy our differences.  To grow, love needs another, more elusive quality——the ability to let go.  Finally, love needs words to make it real. Without words, quarrels can’t be resolved, resentment can’t come to the surface, and we lose the power to share the meaning of our lives. There are many ways of communicating. The important thing is to acknowledge and express our feelings. If we don’t, we deprive others of the knowledge of our love and ourselves of the joy that comes from expressing it.  Love is not a single act, but a climate in which we live , a lifetime venture in which we are always learning, discovering, growing. It’s not destroyed by a single failure,or won by a single caress.Love is a climate——a climate of the heart.

Three Days To See!?

April 30th, 2008 by gerry

At times my heart cries out with longing to see all these things. I f I can get so much pleasure from mere touch, how much more beauty must be revealed by sight. Yet, those who have eyes apparently see little. The panorama of color and action which fills the world is taken for granted.”        The above part is from “Three days to see” which was written by Helen Keller, a famous blind writer. In fact, Helen Keller is not a strange for us because her cases of strong spirit are well-know all over the world. And the passage indeed moved a lot of people as well. I read it again and still feel encouraged by it.         Each day is beautiful as long as we’d like to go finding something in beauty. Just as somebody said ‘there exists beauty all around if we seek for seriously by our eyes. ‘However, our gift of sight is used only as a mere convenience   rather than as a means of adding fullness to life.  As we always said, eyes are the windows of hearts. We don’t make full use of eyes to catch beauty or something whether which conveys that our heart is not beautiful or not. There always somebody complains how hard or dull the life is.  At the same time, others serve life as an enjoyable stuff from which they could gain happiness as well as feel the rich fullness each day.        Moreover, every moment is different and much better than the one before. For in future day we don’t know what will happen and we expect in all kinds of possibilities as we like. And then we can test them when the new day comes, from which we may get amused or sad. However, no matter what happened, it will make us feel fresh and surprised. Is it enough yet?       The point is to let us not forget how to make full use of our eyes. They are the best tool for helping us to be able to acquire what we need. Helen Keller said, ‘it is human perhaps, to appreciate little that which we have and to long for that which we have not.’  In other words, we won’t have any regret and sorrow before we lost what we had. But it is too late that you really lost something you had by accident. Tons of cases like that happened or are happening around us every day. So please let us learn to cherish what we possess as well as make full use of our gift sight.

It’s Not Easy

April 30th, 2008 by gerry

All of sudden, everything seems like difficult especially something which you decide to go along with and really long for the result. Maybe the more violently I want to get, the less possible it is. For it is not easy.            In this world, we shall meet incalculable difficulties in and out of our expectations, which make us feel life is not easy or what’s more everything is not easy. Somebody will say, it is true or it is life. Although we often say to us “Stay out of trouble”, in fact, we can’t as long as we still exist no matter where you are.            ‘Ok, I don’t scare anything difficult and let them come violently” someone said bravely.  I pretty admire his courage and confidence. However, is he truly doing well like what he said? I am not sure. Words are just words. I won’t make any promise at ease because I am worried if I ‘m able to do it or not. In spite of that, I still encourage myself under my heart.  After all, difficulties are blocks and obstruction which doesn’t mean not to be eliminated.              Sometimes, however, I was about to give it up when I felt disappointed about some difficulty. For example, I’m trying learning translation all the time. I paid a lot for that such as time and brain and money and something else. However, I seldom gained what I wanted to. The harvest before me is so obscure that I even doubt what I chose. At the beginning, my confidence is like a full bottle of water but it leaked little by little day by day. At this moment, it is not more than a half, I think.  And whenever my confidence was hit, I would console myself and persuade that I will succeed as long as I go forward because it’s not easy.                “It’s not easy “is not a simple sentence but a meaningful lesson, through which I learn that I must strive to do something I long for more and more.  In other words, everything is not easy and we’d better serve it as a test for us to be ready for our success as well.

No Exams These Days

April 30th, 2008 by gerry

We had just finished the exams which we had prepared for a long time, namely TEM4 and intensive reading exam. I took a deep breath when I went out, saying goodbye to them. Thus, there will be no exams these days.

Frankly speaking, I hate them, and I believe no one likes it. But sometimes, I have to say, this is the only reason I go into the classroom to review the book. I always find that I enjoy the feeling very much, immerging myself in the world of knowledge. Short and rare, I enjoy these days.

Mature

April 30th, 2008 by gerry

The other day, one of my classmates asked me a tough question: what is the standard of a mature schoolboy, or in other words, what can indicate a school guy is mature? He said that he had been considering this question for a long time. Because he is often told, when he is at home, that he is not mature as he should be while in college he think he is much more mature than many other guys who are his age. At school, he knows what things he should do and what should not; he can take the degree of many things and can put them just right; he also has great ambitions and passion for his study. Compared with his contemporaries, he thinks, it is enough for him to be called a mature school guy. Then, why do his parents always deny it?   After he told his story, I really felt at loss what to answer his question. To level with you, I have never thought of this question before and there is even no idea about it in mind. However, I indeed very appreciate and worship those who are rational and sensible. As long as one is rational and sensible, he is superior to his contemporaries in many ways.    However, my dear readers, what’s the standard of a mature schoolboy in your mind? Please don’t hesitate to tell me. Thank you!

The Full Moon in Heart

April 30th, 2008 by gerry

“In the early morning of late autumn I see
A full, lone moon in the west above the tree
With nearby houses, distant mountains in dark
And the miracle in a leg of life’s journey to mark”

At 5:30, when I got up and saw through the window a full moon in the western sky, something poetic at once filled my heart, with all the songs and legends, stories and experiences related to the moon, coming to me like waves of sea, wavy sea above which a full moon was rising.

A full moon in heart when a full moon shines before the eye, I thought. Later even if the full moon is not in sight, it will shine brightly and comfortably in heart.

I remember I wrote something in my feedback to a comment on my article like this:
With joy at heart, you can feel joy in the world;
With beauty at heart, you can see beauty everything in nature.

So with the full moon in heart, you can posses the full moon all the time whatever happens.
In a long and comparatively short life, we often pursue a mood, a certain emotion, a state of mind we call “Happiness”, and once we have experienced it, we shall keep the memory forever—the full moon in heart.

Therefore, I care little whether what I see later is a full moon or not, as long as I keep the full moon in heart, as long as I know that the moon, by nature, is full and round though sometimes part of its face is often hidden or shielded.

From now on, I mind little what I see of the moon, but I do mind what I have of the moon in heart.

The Olympic Torch

April 30th, 2008 by gerry

It’s well-known that the Olympic torch was impeded in France again and again, worse still, our disabled torch hander jingjing was injured in order to protect the torch. Since the 3-14 events occurred, several provinces such as Tibet Xinjiang have the tendency to separate from our mother nation. Add to the Taiwan problems, our China now is in deep hard time. Many western countries, especially American have been searching for every chance to invade our nation, include military invasion and political invasion.

The Olympic Games now is around the corner and our Chinese Government is concentrating on it with all efforts and energy. It’s clear that they just want to distribute our energy with such bad behavior so as to get their  vicious purpose which can’t fulfill forever. Facing this condition, what can we do, and what should we do. Should we go to the Carrefour supermarket and take whatever goods away not paying them? Should we refuse to buy goods from Carrefour and Wal-Mart during the labor’s day even forever. No, it’s so bad and stupid, if we do like that, the American government is absolutely to report that we Chinese is low qualities and arbitrary. What’s more, they will be add oil inflammatory details to vinegar about this. So, we should keep calm and think twice before we take whatever actions. Because as far as I know, American has send many reporters to China in order to catch this chance they make with elaboration.

To tell the truth, if we don’t buy goods in Carrefour and Wal-Mart, our country will confront more large lose, not American. On the one hand, the majority of the goods sold there are produced in China, On the other hand, almost all the worker in that supermarkets are Chinese. So, if we do this, what we get will bigger than what we lose, it means that many works will lost their job. Thus, we should take other more efficient measures to fight against them, not this.

I love China!

Persistence & Running

April 30th, 2008 by gerry

I was always asked “ what makes you keep running everyday for two years

till now,” my answer was always “persistence”.

If we would accomplish anything, let us not forget that we must persevere and don’t give up when we meet anything difficult. Perseverance is along with me when I was young. However, I didn’t come so close to it that I missed several chance to be successful. As I grow up, I gradually understand how important it is. And then I must have myself close to it more and more just like another myself.

I would talk about my recent experiences to prove the account of persistence rather than indulge the infinite lessons. For the detail is more persuaded, I think.

First of all, take running for an example. As we know, running or jogging is pretty useful and beneficial for our health. In this competitive society, some people put themselves and their health last. They are always wearing themselves out and feeling out of control for so-called work. Fortunately, life doesn’t have to be like that. We will gain achievement on condition that we must keep fit. So I suggest that we run or jog for a while every day to relax if we’d like to afford some time. As a matter of fact, persisting in running is not a easy stuff but we will get amazing harvest if we keep on it. Believe me and try it.

Secondly, I should mention fostering good habit for learning. Chairman said “It’s never too old to learn.” It means that we should learn something from the young to old. So having a good habit is of importance for us while perseverance is primitive. For instance, I forced myself to recite beautiful English passages every day at the beginning so as to practice my English. It really needed moving on. Afterward, I become delighted to do it and even feel sad without it. This is the effect of perseverance. Believe me and try it.

Finally, I just want to say you can make it as long as you insist on something. The above is all my real feeling about perseverance. Now I still keep doing the same stuff every day and apparently fullness and miracle is revealed to me. Believe me and try it. You will find the difference.

A Campus Tragedy

April 30th, 2008 by gerry

The night before, while I was browsing the web pages, I spotted a piece of news in our school’s poster bar that a student in Grade Two fell off a building. It is said that on Monday night, the boy ended his life by jumping off his family flat just because his mother blamed him for not having achieved satisfactory results in the exam. As astudent, I can’t accept this cruel fact. Even though I struggled to fight it off, this event still lingered on my mind, refusing to leave. I think it is worth the attention of the whole society as well as school teachers and parents.

First, though the school burdens are lessened, students still have to strive hard and face the fierce competition of University Entrance Examination. Nearly every parent places all his or her hopes on the children. It’s understandable that children bear all their wishes and dreams. They often urge them to work hard to be top students and instruct them such words as what if they can’t be admitted to a prestigious university? Under pressure from parents and their peers, they might break down physically and mentally once they fail to meet their expectations. As parents, they shouldn’t expect too much from their teenager children. Instead, they should provide them a loose environment in which they could study and play freely. As well as a child does all he can, he can be labeled as a good student. College education is important but not a must in life, just as a famous saying goes like this “all roads lead to Rome”. The building of our socialist country needs all types and levels of talents. After all, not everyone can become another Newton, Edison or Hawking.

Second, to curb the number of the rapidly increasing Chinese people, the one-child policy has been performing for three decades. Though Chinese families benefit a lot from this, it causes many problems as well. Children are apples of parents’ eyes. Many parents adore their kids so much that they satisfy all their demands at the cost of everything. A large number of kids are spoilt by their parents’ generosity and indulgence. Once they run into some forms of frustrations, they are not strong enough to stand every kind of trial. Many students collapse after a single setback and give up their studies and begin to idle. Some students even leave home without their parents knowing it. This is the main cause of juvenile delinquency. Others even go extremes. It’s not uncommon that an increasing number of students choose to commit suicide. And teachers should help us to set up correct values and develop positive attitudes towards life. We are the future of our society. Their healthy growing is what we all expect to see.
