The news that Yao was seriously injured which therefore ended his NBA season this year did arouse a large range of attention among Chinese people from all walks of life. Chinese basketball association looked for alternative plans in order to give him a hand on the way of recovering. They revealed their notion both in positive and negative ways. Meanwhile, Yao itself, the so called giant Chinese man, cracked his own concern that it definitely would be an unprecedented as well as perpetual loss in his whole basketball career if he can not play for China in Beijing 2008 Olympics. Besides, the news would also be a great crash to Houston Rockets, as Yao is the towering giant who had been contributed a lot to the team. As far as I am concerned, Yao is regarded as an idol that shoulders the great hope from Chinese fans and be the origin of fans’ enduring passion to this sport and to NBA. Even though we are worrying about his injury and wondering if we can see him in Olympic, we are stilled inspired by him till the very beginning of his career in NBA. He still enjoys popularity in China. Hopefully, he might appear on August, Beijing.
