How could that happen? It is one of the ridiculous death that I have ever heard of. A 20 years old girl died suddenly during the cheerleader routine! And according to the death certificate, the reason resulted her death is the ones which can only happens in a car accident! It is shocking and unprecedented? This is the one we should pay great attention to and meanwhile, think it over about what we, the world did to these young adults. Could anybody realize the severe danger of this “game”?

After watching a piece of top videos on ABC news following this news (”high flying cheerleaders”), I eagerly want to express my own humble opinion on this raising “career” in college life.

More competion cheering tasks, more training. Is that enough? Of course, it is not! Three hours a day, six days a week plus the sunday’s competiton performance! wow, this is the one, like stuns me or more seriously, freaks me out! How can they do that? how can they even survive that without being suffocated during the, to some extent, afflicting training? Is it originated from their passion to sports? or their enthusiasm to dancing, more specifically acrobate dancing? Actually, it is hard even to imagine that in China. I admire the American Style contribution to sports and the spirit to what you should digging in, however, the point is: is it worthy enough? How could you even know that? For me, idealistically, i prefer to be the one of these cheerleaders and practices everyday since I prefer the breath-taking performance they give the audience, and most importantly, they are pretty cool when doing that, which means if i take part in it, the reason lies in my vanity. Yet, in reality, definately i would not do that. Firstly, it is the one more like a job instead of a way of entertaining. and i do not like it since it costs me abundants of time which we should take good use of. Secondly, it is obvious that we do not need the cheerleader in China. That’s the point originated from the conventional living style of Chinese people. Although i prefer to be creative in daily life, i can not break up a big trend merely relying upon my litttle, tiny, subtle energy. I am not pessimism, but it is the truth. That is one of the reasons why i was shocked when i saw the dispatch relevant to the death of the energetic cheerleader.

Federer

Federer, the top tennis player, won another title yesterday and made his 54 career title in all after he digged in this sports several years prior.

It is not a surprise for me at all since I am quite clear of his energetic character and his veteran skill. It is well known that he is the Grand Slam tennis player who has a handsome appearance as well, which helps the 23 years old Swiss star to win thousands of hundreds of fans all over the world, even the ones who do not really have enthusiasm in sports. However, it is a great shock for me as well as Federer himself that he won the game so easily, effortlessly. Davydenko, who is ranked fourth in the world, was pulled out of the court by injury. That is why Federer won the game without any effort. As for Feferer himself, this is the first time for him to compete in the final when the opponent quit.

After this clay court match, Federer added Estoril to his schedule in a bid to boost his chances of winning the French Open. What’s more, he expressed that he will keep training before the game and hopefully, he will win the title again this summer in French. As for me, i also hope that he will win the title this september in United States. He is unique, isn’t he?

Comments on “Should Britain Boycott the Olympics over Tibet”

Posted by ice3 on 20th March 2008

What’s wrong with you people??????????? I just cannot understand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At first glance of this piece of news, I became totally furious about Britain people. Why? Why? and still Why? Even though after the logical thinking for a while, I still do not quite understand these people in Britain and in other countries who think they should intervene the political issue of China!

Firstly, I do hold the opinion strongly that the Tibet issue is the one belongs to only Chinese Government and I have the confidence with Chinese government that they will handle it well. And the government just showed us its outstanding ability over this kind of riot. Therefore, we need no one to intervene our own issues. Advices to those who thought they can impede the pace of Chinese Government: focus on your own business! If you have more spare time, do something meaningful. Especially, to those firm British people who think that it is their responsibility to claim the human rights of citizens in China, just retrospect to your own history, can you doubt that you have ever meet this kind of problems as well? Put yourself in this situation as well, and then think it over if you still have this kind of opinion!

Secondly, is there any tight relationship between Tibet issue and Olympics? If any, it is very tiny. For instance, you may have the concern about your own security. However, according to the measure which was taken by Chinese government in this week towards Tibet issue, we are aware that the government addresses it very well and therefore, we should give faith to the government. Except this understandable concerning, I can not find any relevant problems I have to say. Please be sane, you crazy people!!! It is no doubt that China will unfold an unprecedented Olympics that you have never seen! Why not just wait to see? Besides, it would be definite a great loss for the those athletes under exacting training. It is unfair to them under boycotting the Olympics.

In addition, have you ever question Chinese people? How many of us think that we have no human right? If we think we have a wonderful life here and we feel no human rights problem, in this case, what the hell of your problems is? This is our living style! As for the Olympics, I think one of the aims of the Olympic is offering a stage to people all over the country to join in hands in order to hold the Olympic successfully. We just did it! All of people here are contributing their even humble tribute to the Olympics in Beijing. There is an old saying: each one attribute one rung to the ladder and together we can climb the moon. Yep, the Chinese government are now colleting wisdom among people from all walks of life, from all over the country! That is the spirit of Olympic lies in! Those insane people, PLEASE OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!!!!

What’s more, I just want to ask those people who oppose the Olympics in China and are eager to boycott the Olympic: Have you ever come to China? You guys only read the news from BBC/SKY/CNN, and always tried to compare UK (a country that invaded half of the world (including Tibet), generated a huge amount of treasure by “doing business”) with China (a country that was almost completely destructed in the WWII)? Probably you went to China, and saw many people are still in relatively poor living condition, but did you go to China 30 years ago? Have you seen the improvements? The policy maker of China made it very clear, open part of the China first (the costal regions), and make the people become rich; then bring the rest of the country up together. And this is what the Chinese government is doing! Can you tell me what you will do if you are the president of China and facing over 1.3 billion population and 9.6 million square kilometers territory? One can never express his/her own opinion unless he/she conducts a convincing investigate and draw to the conclusion based on a lot of warranted information as well as evidence! This is not the issue that your comments can deal with, so please shut your fu*k up! Who you think you are? Get the hell away of our face!

Actually, I am pretty sure that China government will show the world its unbelievable capabilities to deal with all of those tough problems, no matter Taiwan issue, Tibet issue, Boycotting issue or even Human rights issue! No country as well as people can hamper our step to moving forward! That’s for sure!!!

Just released by Carolina Panthers, David Carr signed with New York Giants as an experienced backup quarterback. It is undoubtedly a gust of fresh air to both New York Giants and Super Bowl. As for Carr himself, the well protection of quarterback and the playmakers on the outside are among the most important reasons towards the signing. Throughout his own career, Carr has completed 1,316 of 2,206 passes for 14,026 yards, 62 touchdowns and 70 interceptions. His career passer rating is 74.4. Among with, the most impressive thing is that in 2004 he achieved a record 76 for 411 yards in losses just as a rookie!

As for the coach of New York Giants, Tom Coughlin expressed his great expectation upon this so called talented boy with a lot of potential. Just as he said: “If we can place him in a positive environment, perhaps he can reclaim some of the things that people saw to draft him in the first round.”

In my opinion, I would like to cast my hope on this 28 years old guy, who is energetic and born for this game. Retrospect his whole career, I can see his gift just from his collegiate career several years ago. He achieved an unprecedented level that few players can reach with completing 587 of 934 passes for 7,849 yards according to record. What’s more, he threw 70 touchdowns versus 23 interceptions. From then on, he has been collecting many honors and awards. I am definitely sure that he will keep moving on and shock American people again in New York Giant. What’s more, to be honest, he is such an handsome guy that you can not move your eye away from him! He is gorgeous! 

Comments On “Vonn keeps Olympic ambitions on track with first title”

Posted by ice3 on 13th March 2008

Vonn

News Link

What do we know about Lindsey Vonn or prior, Lindsey Kildow? To be honest, Not until I saw this newsletter, I know nothing about her. Actually, the reason why she caught my attention is the notion that she and compatriot Bode Miller could scoop the overall crowns for the US. I know Miller a lot. So I thought, she might be another talented athlete that I am supposed to pay attention to. And the fact is I am definitely right.

Lindsey Vonn, an elite member of the U.S. Ski Team’s alpine skiing program. As for the vast majority of people, she is hot, with beautiful face, long blonde hair, hot body that fits the sweater well. That is why she is totally the type that boys take home to mom. However, she is the girl way more than that. She rocked America all over before her marriage to 2002 Olympian and former U.S. Ski Team athlete Thomas Vonn. And most importantly, she did not loss much ambition on this sport and keeps amazing the world after marriage. Through February 9, 2008, she had already won five World Cup races during the season. As of that date, she held the overall lead in the women’s 2008 World Cup.

As for me, I feel relieved when I heard that she will keep her ambition on track in order to appear in 2008 Olympic with her body in shape. After all, as herself once said(as I paraphrased): having my husband Thomas around has given me stability, and it is him who keeps me sane. Whereas, she said as well that Olympic is the only thing that can arouse her great ambition and motivate her to go stronger. She is determined to this. Thus, I think it would be pretty lucky for us to see a talented and vigorous Vonn again in Olympics. In fact, I can not wait to see a breath taking performance from her in Beijing 2008 Olympics and I am sure that most of people would like to keep an eye on her since she is such an amazing athlete with a lot of potential.

P.S.
In addition, on the basis of all her accomplishments, the idea that we read from Maggie’s class just occurred to me when I am reading the newsletter. That is, what women should be or expected to do is playing the role well as polite spectators and applauding in ladylike fashion at male sports excellence but to exert themselves to sports as well. I think this is sort of the reason that why I know Miller a lot but meanwhile, know Vonn little. It is, to some extent, a stereotype that hampers our thinking. Thus, as for me, our society do have to call for more attention to these distinguished women athletes rather than regard them as buffoonish ones who do not deserve much ink on the newspapers and any other public magazines. After all, both men and women are equal from the very beginning. What women need is not to change “HISTORY” into “HERSTORY”, but to be treated equally in any realm. That is reasonable!
FOR SURE!

comments on “It’s Not an Adventure, It’s a Job “

Posted by ice3 on 12th March 2008

It is definitely true that being a Division I student-athlete is a full-time job, it is not even close to being a normal college student. Actually, whether the students nourished by sports scholarships should be regarded as normal ones may arouse a large range of controversy. At the end of the spectrum are those students. Those students suffer a lot since the life in college is tough. On the one hand, they have to focus on everyday training as well as their own fitness which is essential to their sports career. On the other hand, the burden of learning apparently overwhelms them. What’s more, they have to give up their own spare-time interest in order to go forward with the scholarship. As one of the students once said: You can never lose sight of why you play. Yes, I got a scholarship, but in the end, I put up with the sore muscles, lost sleep and everything else because I loved playing that much.” They thought it would be easy in college when they were in high school, but what they experience just disappointed them a lot. They are, in fact, exhausted. That is why half of them or even more quitted finally. Whereas, At the end of the other spectrum are the coaches who open door for those recruits by the approach of offering them scholarships which is out of reach for the vast majority of normal people. It is understandable for them to expect a competitive team with vigorous athletes. Therefore, they raise the criterion of training and increase the training time for these recruits without paying much attention to their daily life and their psychological changing. Besides, the accomplishment of a college team may relevant to their own interest, which will also attribute to their strict method of training and high standard request.

Of course, as outsiders, we can pour our condemn both to these students and these coaches. They might right to some extent. However, the point is, who can stand out and take those responsibilities for those miserable students? What should these victims do aiming at coordinating them together?

After reading between the lines of this piece of news, on one hand, I realize the fact that the system of scholarship in China differentiates from the one of United States; on the other hand, I do pay my sympathy to these division student who earn the scholarship, or to some extent the salary in a way that is out of their reach. As for me, both learning in college and training should call for a balance. Neither of them is supposed to lag behind each other. Thus, what we need badly now, is to offer a stage for efficient communication among those students, coaches and those teacher who giving the lectures. Only in this way, can these students have the opportunity to reconcile both training and learning harmoniously. Only in this way, can we emancipate those miserable student-victim from shackles on both sides.

Yao

news link

The news that Yao was seriously injured which therefore ended his NBA season this year did arouse a large range of attention among Chinese people from all walks of life. Chinese basketball association looked for alternative plans in order to give him a hand on the way of recovering. The vast majority of basketball fans were more worried than disappointed judged from comments on walls which were swarmed with throngs of people each day. They revealed their notion both in positive and negative ways. Meanwhile, Yao itself, the so called giant Chinese man, cracked his own concern that it definitely would be an unprecedented as well as perpetual loss in his whole basketball career if he can not play for China in Beijing 2008 Olympics. As for ABC news commenter, Yao means a lot to China.

Besides, the news would also be a great crash to Houston Rockets, as Yao is the towering giant who had been contributed a lot to the team. However, as for the fans of this team, they are supposed to be relieved more or less since the actions thereafter were breath taking as well. Till now, Houston Rockets has a 20 times consecutive wins and the team are expecting more which will apparently break the record of the team and create history of NBA.

As for me, like the majority of Chinese fans, I was shocked and disappointed by the news, not only originated from his suffering, but also, more importantly, from the fact that I can not see any Chinese player this year in NBA season, which would obviously a loss to me, and to any other Chinese fans with great passion to this sports. As far as I am concerned, Yao is regarded as an idol that shoulders the great hope from Chinese fans and be the origin of fans’ enduring passion to this sport and to NBA. Even though we are worrying about his injury and wondering if we can see him in Olympic, we are stilled inspired by him till the very beginning of his career in NBA. He still enjoys popularity in China. Hopefully, he might appear on August, Beijing.

Super Bowl

Posted by ice3 on 15th February 2008

Since I realized that American Football is so awesome and so far I know little about it, obviously, it is a right decision for me to learn more about it step by step.

The fist step is to learn more about NFL. ok! Here I am! Super Bowl!
super bowl trophy
As for professional American football teams, Super Bowl is the championship that none of them can afford to miss. It definitely would be a great honor for a team to win it. As a championship game of National Football League, Super Bowl plays an indispensable part to the vast majority of American people. What’s more, it is the most-watched U.S. television broadcast of the year. That is why many popular singers and musicians have performed during the Super Bowl’s pre-game and halftime ceremonies.

The Super Bowl was first played on January 15, 1967 as part of an agreement between the NFL and the American Football League. After the leagues merged in 1970, the Super Bowl became the NFL’s championship game, played between the champions of the league’s two conferences: the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC).

Whereas the new is kind of old, I still put it up here since, whatsoever, she is still my favoriate skater for years. yep, she is the well known champion Michelle Kwan.

Michelle was used to be the most well known skater in the spotlight and still is famous today even though she does not know if she will be eligible to the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver since she will be 29 at that time. Yet, she said she has the passion to give it a shot as long as she is qualified. At present, she exerts herself in diplomatic field and has her budding career as a diplomat, which is amazing to the vast majority of the people who like her. However, she, indeed, does a great job in this area. After all, she has finished her Political science degree in Denver University. She loves this kind of life as she can really be herself and do whatever she wants.

As for me, except an enduring pity feeling about her in Turin Olympics, I still think the life is now, good for her. hopefully all of these she holds in hand would be the source of contentment. For God’s sake, she really is the girl who deserves a wonderful life. In fact, I have no idea why I feel crazy about her even though I realize it is undoubtedly that she was a Chinese and for some reason she went through all the events being represent of United States as an America. However, once referring to the best skater in the world, her name just occurred to me naturally. I am thinking it is probably because that she was the first skater I exposed to or alternatively she was once the most skillful and efficient one in her routine. For my part, at that time, she was so outstanding and unprecedented compared with all the other skaters, which to me, the little, unsophisticated girl, she was just like an angel in a legend. Indeed, as the days passing by, I could see something else from her: her consistence spirit, her great passion to compete and her courage after the great pounding and the serious groin injury which derailed her quest for that elusive gold medal in 2002. Yep, she is, just this kind of girl. That’s why you can not stop loving her for no reason!

Nagasu
news link
Despite the fall on the open jump of free skate, Nagasu, the 15 years old girl, won the title still with her skill efficiency and the strong will of persistence. Although she was not the one who won the gold medal, she was still overwhelmed the audience Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center. It seems that it is a current trend each skater is just so young. It is sort of insane I have to say since three out of the first four finishers are under 16, which means they are not old enough to qualify the world championship. The another 15 years old girl, Flatt got the gold medal that night, followed by Wagner and Nagasu. What’s more, another pairs John Baldwin and Rena Inoue made their day memorable as Baldwin proposed to his long-time girlfriend Inoue after the routine. It is another renowned pair got engaged after the Chinese pairs Shenxue and Zhaohongbo.
