What does the Secret Agent tell us?

I have finished the book: The Secret Agent. In the book,we found that the relationship between a husband and a wife is more unimportant than between a sister and a brother. At the same time, I think it gives us a plateform for us to think about the charactoristic for the persons. Mr Verloc was so lazy that he acted as a spy for a embassy. In the end, he lost all within his life. But I can’t understand Why his wife wanted to escape, only for her killing her husband?

Some talks about the children and their parents

I think you’re making a big mistake, mother.
Winnie announced, “It’s embarrassing that you should leave our home to go to such a place. It looks as if we haven’t been good to you.

The Secret Agent

Some day, when I was preparing for my class, some colleagues were talking about the children and their parents. One of them said:”In foreign country, the children will leave the parents away when they growen up.” Then she continued: “We would not ask them to give us lives.” I was very surprised. Why did they have the violent idea? I read some sentences:
“I think you’re making a big mistake, mother,” Winnie announced ,” It’s embarrassing that you should leave our home to go to such a place. It looks as if we haven’t been good to you.”
“Oh, don’t be silly. You’re been a wonderful daughter. And your hunsband…” The old woman began to get tears in her eyes. She stopped talking and turned her head toward the window.
It was true, this move would look bad to people. They would think that Winnie and her husband had cruelly forced the old woman to leave their home. Or they would simply think that the daughter did not care for her mother enough in her old age. Either way, it would look quite bad. However, Mrs. Verloc’s mother knew that she was an extra mouth to feed. She knew that she took up space in that small house of theirs. And she knew that Mr. Verloc would get increasingly tired of having his wife’s family around. By moving out, she might be able to make it easier for Mr. Verloc to accept Stevie living in his home.
After I finished, she felt big shameful.

The Secret Garden

The Secret Garden
This is the character of Mary. This is the surroundings that Mary grew up. ( environment, circumstances)
As Mary grew up, she spent all her time with the Ayi and the other servants, these people let Mary do whatever she wanted, and they gave her everything she wanted. This was because they knew that if Mary cried she would disturb her parents. Then her parents would become angry with the servants.
In this circumstances, Mary became a selfish child.
Mary was a very selfish child. (1)And she only thought about herself. (2)She wondered who would take care of her now. (3)She hoped that they would be polite to her. (4)She wanted them to give her whatever she wanted, like her Ayi had.
In the new environment, we can find Mary’s real character. The new friends can treat her very well.
At first the children tried to be nice to Mary. However, she was so unkind to them that no one would play with her. They called her names, which made her very angry.
After Mary had been there for two weeks, Basil said to Mary, “I heard that you’re going home at the end of the week. I’m glad. I don’t like you.”
“ I’m glad , too. And I don’t like you, either!”
When Basil said to Mary about her uncle, she said: “Go away, I don’t believe you,” She put her fingers in her ears.
This is the habit which the kind child would be.
A few days later Mary got on a large boat, and traveled to England. She traveled with an English woman. The woman was very busy with her own children, and did not pay much attention to her.
When the children were never taught kind, she(he) would not knew what was the kind, and he (she) always thought she (he) was pleasant and others were not.
She felt that her parents hadn’t loved her. None of the servants had loved her, either. She did not know that this was because she was an unpleasant child. No one had ever taught her to be kind. Mary did not even know that she was unpleasant. She often thought that others were unpleasant. But she did not know that she was unpleasant, herself.
The house is on the edge of the moor. The moor is a large, flat land with grass and hills.
When we read a book , we must drow our attention to the content. In this sentence, What’s the word : moor? “The moor is a large, flat land with grass and hills.” In this way, we can’t look up the dictionary frequently.
Mary tried to pretend she didn’t care. The woman looked at her curiously.” You’re like an old woman, not a child.” she said. “Don’t you care?”
But I don’t know why the woman say this.
“You have to live at Misselthwaite whether you like it or not. It’s the easiest thing, Your uncle isn’t going to see you. He doesn’t see anyone. Oh, yes, I forgot something. Your uncle has a bad back. It made him an angry person, even though he had lots of money and a large house. He was a sour young man. He didn’t become happy until he met his wife.”
This is the description of Mary’s uncle. He is as the same as Mary.—- a strange man.
“Oh! Did she die?” cried Mary. She thought of a children’s story she had read once. The story was about a beautiful princess and an ugly man. She suddenly felt sorry for her uncle.
This girl has pity for others. She didn’t want to compare his uncle with the “ugly” man.
There aren’t any other children at the house, either. You’ll have to play and take care of yourself. I will show you what rooms you can enter. There are many rooms you must stay away from. There are many gardens outside for you to play in. But when you’re in the house, you cannot wander around. This is very important. Mr. Craven won’t allow it.
This is the rules which Mary must obey. This made her great curious.
“I don’t want to see his horrible house,” said sour little Mary. She stared out the window. She didn’t feel sorry for Mr. Craven anymore. He probably deserved all the bad things that happened to him.
She turned towards the window and stared at the rain. She stared at it for so long that she fell asleep.
In last period, Mary felt sorry to her uncle because she thought of her uncle as the ugly man. After she heard the woman’s words, she was angry. She was made to obey all the rules, although it was said by the woman. This is the children’s activity.
Chapter Nine
Mary couldn’t imagine a more wonderful place than the secret garden. It seemed that the garden’s owner had loved roses, for the garden was filled with many rose bushes and rose vines.
The children need a good ideal circumstance to live and get rid of their bad habit. In this novel, the secret garden is a proper place for her. It’s the secret which attracts her and makes her become interested in everything that she likes. I think this is a good idea to teach her to do something.
The robin was sitting on a tree in the garden. He didn’t sing anymore; he only looked at Mary, as if to see what she would do next.
I think the robin is a perfect person who wants Mary to be a good girl.
If Mary had been a gardener, like Ben Weatherstaff, she would have been able to tell whether a plant was dead or not. But she wasn’t—– all she saw were many brown and gray trees, vines, and bushes. They certainly looked dead. But suddenly Mary gave a little cry. In one corner of the garden there was a patch of black dirt.
This is the kind in her heart.
