Be Balanced

This article reminds me of the situation of Chinese athletes. I do not know if the situation is the same as before. In the past several years, I can on and off see news of the poor situation in which some Chinese athletes also lived a level under the poverty line, and among those, there were some who were once the Olympic heroes. Maybe, they were not even remembered by the audience, the public when they were standing on the pedestal, singing the nation’s anthem. If not, the public really have got poor memory. Those athletes spent most of their life, their prime time on the training, committed all their energy and effort into the specific sport, but they are submerge in silence. They do not dair to expect too much from the public. Those who have got Olympic medals even are forgotten let alone those who have not. My heart go out to those silent heroes though some are not medalists. They have already devoted their youth, the most valuable thing in one’s life, for their country, but they are not well treated. Life is hard for them if we do not show any care for them. They have no other skills but sports skills, so once they step out of the sport world, it is vey difficult for them to survive or live an average life.

People should not only pay attention to famous athletes like Liu Xiang, Yao Ming. They do deserve so much attention as Chinese heroes, but what about those who are forgotten. They are ahtletes same as Liu and Yao, all of whom are Olympic champions. The only difference may be their events. Perhaps, we should turn our eyes on both those hotr and cold events, because when doing the medal tally, the cold event medals are counted in too.
