A Long Day

It’s been a long day, particularly due to the fact that I
had to work two split shifts today. I am happy that I
make my own money but it is still tiring. I have spent
4 hours preparing for the lessons and I think I will still
need more time.

The good thing is that one of my students came
because I was recomended by another student
of mine. I hope the word spreads and I will have more
people coming. I could do with 2-3 more to say
that I earn decent money.

Leaving for Oslo in November for 4 days due to
an extended weekend. It will cost us an arm and leg
but I still hope to enjoy it. I hope it will not snow!

I am a private English Tutor in China and have been for more than three years. I came to China in 2002 and after a 2-year stint of doing the public schools decided to go freelance. I spent a considerable amount of money and time designing advertising brochures and having them printed and distributed. The result was ONE!!! kindergarten student. (He is still my student and now in Grade 3.) I have not advertised again in any form but now have 70+ regular students and have had at least 150 over the past three years. (Many of my current students have been with me for more than two years, and about twenty for almost three.) ALL of these students have come to me as the result of word-of-mouth advertising, so be of good cheer. If you are a good teacher who can deliver the product be certain your student numbers will grow.
