New Year Holiday Experiences

On the New Year’s day, my husband and I were invited to one of our friends’ home for lunch. Two days after that, we had dinner with our Indian friend. They are vegetarian so we had veggie dinner. I had not been in an Indian home since then and that was a quite different experience. They are very friendly and cooked hot foods which was difficult to eat for me even though I like hot and spicy foods. I tried to eat my food with plain yogurt but the yogurt was hot too. Anyway, I ate all of them. We had a great night with them.

On the past weekend, we saw two interesting movies, The curious case of Benjamin Button and Frost/Nixon. Both movies are really interesting. The plots and the massages are wonderful. I do not want to talk about them more because you perhaps would like to watch them but if you saw them say what you think.

Another unsual experience that I had on New Year holidays was going to an auction. I always saw auctions on Tv, a man standing behind a podium with a wooden hammer telling the prices out loud. People say their favorite price until a person  who suggested the highest price buy a good. That was I saw on Tv and when my husband and I found the auction’s advertisement in the local newspaper, we decided to go there and experience a new thing. At 12 o’clock, they opened the show room, the place that you can see home items like furnitures, side lamps, beds, chests, oil painting pictures, statues and etc. At 1 pm, the auction started. A fat tall man who announced the prices introduced himself and some of auction workers showed the items. Every person who wants to take part in the auction must have registered and got a number. Every time a customer wanted to bid a price, she/he must show that number. The experience was unique and exciting and we bought a really nice rooster statue.

The holiday is over and it is time to come back to work again ,learning English with much more energy and motivation. This year, dreams must come true.
