Hall Jr eyes record third 50 freestyle gold
Evergreen Gary Hall Jr has thrown his hat into the sprint freestyle ring ahead of the Beijing Olympics and insists he has what it takes to win for a record third successive Games. The 33-year-old American said he was capable of recapturing the 50 metres freestyle gold because of his big-race experience, and a recent records blitz by his younger rivals meant nothing.
The son of three-time Olympian Gary Hall Sr is envied by his rivals for winning after layoffs of up to three years between Olympics, breaks he said had “kept me competing at this level”.
Although he has won 10 Olympic medals—five gold—his career has not been plain sailing.
He was suspended for using marijuana in 1998 and his career almost ended when he was diagnosed with having type 1 diabetes a year later.
All were wearing new space-age bodysuits credited with dozens of record-breaking performances.
We hope all the swimmer will have a good achivement.
