The Progress of Women’s Position in Sports

After I reading an article titled the Elite Women Prove That A&M No Longer Stands for “ALL Male”, kind of touching happiness in my heart.

In this article, it mainly talks about how female athletes, especially girls in university, to win today’s status step by step, as a matter of fact, it is not easy at all. In 1977, the first women’s team got their own locker room, however, the decoration is men’s style, this time, it is the second time for Texas A&M basketball team reached the round of 16 in Women’s N.C.A.A. tournament. “The ascent of basketball- and of women’s sports in general at Texas –represents a proud cultural shift that university that was founded as an all-male military institution in 1876 and did not admit women until they sued their way onto campus in 1963.”

Although we always say equal, express no discrimination everywhere. But the truth is that every small change needs great effort. How the women players are admitting by audience? How to attract the supporting? When will they have their own league? Where will they go after retirement? So many questions, so many difficulties are waiting to be overcome. Absolutely, with time going, more and more female university athletics are awareness to fight against their legal right through lawsuit. It is a good thing, even a small progress will make a great contribution to the women in future.

Judged from the title, we knew the elite, which means excellence, another question is that how about the common women? Some kind of discrimination still exists. Every coin has its two sides, at least elite women show their ability to prove they can also do a good job!
