Love or money?
I am always surprised by my students in China! When I ask them to write about which is more important, love or money, they always say money. One hundred percent of the students agree. (These are young students. Maybe older Chinese would disagree.) I wonder, how do you feel about this question? If you could be rich, but had no love, would that be acceptable? If you had love, but were poor, would that be okay? I think I could live without money, but living without love is just too painful. Well, that’s my opinion. What’s yours?

Love is most important because if you want to make money you have to love it.If you love your family you have to earn money.
In my opinion it is love that earns money.

Hello! Joe.I am an old student. all my (almost)friends are rich.on least have several property. every month’s rental can buy a fancy car.they still not give up any opportunity to earn money, from them I can see that love full of their family,I think WE Chinese all very industrious and thrifty. so all your students are believe money is more important than other thing.

So Mei Chin, I guess you are saying that money is important because it equals industriousness, thrift, and love of family. Is that right? I wonder what Chinese people did before its “open door policy”. Few people had the chance to earn much money, but they still loved their families. Were they less happy than now? More happy? I wonder…
