The Top Five Ways to Improve Your Pronunciation

I just made a web page for my students, describing the top 5 ways they can improve their pronunciation. The fifth way is to learn English rhythm. TheĀ fourth way is to record your own voice and listen to it again. Can you guess what the first three ways are? If you want to know, click the link below:

I tried the first and the second methods, listening to songs and mimik the News broadcasters. But, I did not move my lips and just in my inner mind, I said the words. I can tell other students that they are very effective. For me, songs are a better way and helped me more than anything else. But I have a question. Why are the methods in the reverse order? from 5 to 1.

Thank you so much for this lesson.

The suggestions are in reverse order following the pattern set by a famous American comedian named David Letterman. He puts together funny lists (you can search for his Top Ten Lists on Google) and always starts at ten and tries to put the funniest item at the end, at Number 1. His humor is very sarcastic and may be hard for people from outside North America to understand. Still, you could try! Let me know what you think of David Letterman if you do try to understand his lists.

    Dear teacher Joe,

Thank you so much for the explanation. I know David Letterman but I did not see him much on TV. Because his show is really late in Canada and it is hard to follow because of the late time at 11 or 12 pm. But, I can watch to his program on the Internet. I just remember him once he had made fun of Nicole Kidman and asked her very personal questions that disturbed her a lot.

    Best regards,
