Help me with your feedback, please

Hello Everybody!

In a week I will be going back to New York for a much needed rest. As I told my students, I have also forgotten so much English while in China that I need to go back to study! Seriously, though, I have a lot of plans during my weeks at home (hopefully at the beach!) but my plans center around making lots and lots of pages for my new web site Laugh and Learn English. I am doing a lot of the preparation work for the site now. This morning, before going to work, I made a riddle page which you can see at Laugh and Learn English Riddle One. If you could, please give me some feedback on this riddle. In particular, try to answer these questions:

1. Is it too easy, or maybe too difficult?
2. Is the explanation clear?
3. Do you think I should put the answer on the next page, before “Riddle Number 2″? (That would mean that visitors to my site would have to wait several days, or maybe even a week, for the answer.)

Any other comments welcome!

    Dear teacher Joe,

I think the riddle is quite good, not too easy and not too difficult. I also think the explanations is clear enough. I personally do not like to wait for a long time to see the answer, so, putting the answer on the same page is quite a good idea. But, others should say their opinion.

    Thanks a lot for everything,
Have a great and safe trip,
    Nafis

    Hello teacherjoe ,

I dropped in to read your riddle in the page , it’s good riddle to guessing and thinking for a while and it’s also not difficult to get it . Yes , sure your explaining is really clealy ,so it’s enough for learnners to understand . Finally , I think the riddle ’s answer should be hided so that learners or visitors will be able to guess or think it for a while in his/ her brain . Before they click to find right answer of it . So in my opinion you should hide it in the same page or put it before riddle number 2 .

Have a good trip and time !
    Nucha

    Hello Teacher Joe,

How are you? I hope you enjoy your summer holidays in your hometown now.

About the riddle, I agree with other comments here. I think it’s a reasonable riddle, neither too easy nor too difficult. I would like to challenge from easy to difficult ones.

I think the explanation is clear.

I can’t wait for the answers for several days or a week. But I don’t want the answer to come into sight with a riddle, because I will tend to see it before thinking.

Thank you for the interesting way of leaning English.

Thanks for your comment Chichi. It’s always wonderful to hear from you! So far, I have only found five “challenging” riddles, but I have about 70 easy ones. I think some of the easy ones will be challenging enough for non-native English speakers.

I’ve been busy during my vacation, making lots of new jokes for www.laughandlearnenglish.com. I am hoping to have one new joke per week along with one new riddle, one new “odd news” story, and one funny photograph. If I can, I want to include one funny video, but the best video site is Youtube which is blocked in China, so when I go back, I will not be able to see any videos on that site. :(
