Where they come from?
After reading this article, I have a question on my mind, why large portion of the NBA player came from the suburb instead of the inner city.
The city can provide a lot of advantages for a boy to become a NBA player, you konw so many stars are in hte city, street baskateball, countless competitions, better training facilities and even coaches.
There are some possibilities I can think of but I am not sure if I am right because I am not living in America. First, I think there is a possibility that the kids in suburbs have more time practicing because they don’t have much entertainment in the suburbs, and bskateball dosen’t need much preperation, all you need are a ball and a net. So they can spend a lot of time in practicing their skills. But the kids living in inner cities have much more activities for them to choose they can watch movies in the theater, they go to bars, they can do part-time jobs, they can attend lectures and many different social activities, so many of them actuall not choose baskateball as their hobby. Second, kids in suburbs see baskatball as a chance to enter good college so they always practice hard trying to have a good performance so a good university will admit them after they graduate from high school. But childern in the inner cities always have more choices and opportunities and because the life they have experienced in the inner cities they are more motivated in studying and know better what they want and what they should do to achieve it they only take baskateball as a program to watch or a sport to help them keep fit.
So, there is a big chance for the kids in suburbs to become basketball stars.
